Pros

You'll get to work with a bunch of cool, smart people working together to build and maintain a very solid product. Working as a dev here is a truly challenging and fun enterprise. It definitely won't be boring, as there is plenty of work to be done, and unique problems to be solved. Good, efficient, and high quality work is recognized, and is rewarded. Management values "get your stuff done, on time, with high quality" over basically anything else. There really are no core office hours where all employees are expected to be present in the office. There is an expectation to at least call into meetings where you are required to, and there is something to be said in regards to in person collaboration. But as long as you're proactive, and get your stuff done, you will be successful here. Have a last minute dr appt, and need to be out for a few hours? No problem. Need to drop your partner off at the airport Monday morning? No problem. If you're recognized as an employee who gets their stuff done, then you'll have a good time here. I've worked at other companies where it was expected everyone would be in the office no later than 7:30am every day. I lasted about 10 months there. They clearly valued a rigid work day over employee productivity. Tamarac is the opposite - they're flexible and will work around you, because they understand their employees are everything. Another awesome thing are the extra-curricular activities. From an annual Mario Kart competition to catered lunch every Monday. There is a very competitive Ultimate Frisbee team with some insanely talented players. We organized an arena soccer team. There are frequent happy hours, both in the office and out. They sponsored several employees to attend GeekWire. There are team celebrations, usually after every sprint. Puzzle rooms, shoot some pool, etc. It can be a very fun work environment. There is a more than decent gym in the office with free weights. The smoothie bowl place on level 2 is amazing. I'm leaving on very good terms, and am hoping to re-join in the near future, after some epic travel.

Cons

The main con for me was just getting into and out of downtown Seattle. Traffic is chaotic, and parking is not an option. Luckily, Tamarac will pay for an Orca card for every employee which definitely helps. I never had any other issues working as a Software Dev here. There was no annoying office politics really to deal with, management always seemed more than reasonable to me, and compensation was competitive. It would have been cool to get stock options, or at least an employee stock purchase program, which could help to increase the incentive. As far as I know, this is not offered at Envestnet Tamarac, though the company is publicly traded. This is the only reason I gave 4 stars to compensation/benefits.
