The staff are kind people. The company's practices are outdated

Pros

Most of the people are very kind and respectful.

Cons

Epson is outdated in many ways. They have outdated HR practices such as employee ranking which causes the morale to go down. The executives have outdated views. Also, the more one does, the more work they give.

Pros

- Good and collaborative Culture within Epson America - Small enough where you get to know everyone - Strong product line-up (for the most part) and good technology - Small enough that you can have a wide set of responsibilities - Able to do a lot with the budget and staffing constraints we have - Creative sales and marketing teams - Good coordination across PM and Sales - Sales Ops and IT are the glue to business operations - Sets challenging targets and business goals - not complacent - New BI initiative is great and long overdue

Cons

- You are working as a subsidiary of a Japanese corporate parent, so you don't really have a lot of control over most activities in the company. - The Japanese parent is old-school Japanese - a lot of command and control, and behind the times (they are located in the mountains of Japan). - A lot of your time will be spent dealing with politics and inquiries from the parent company. - Most processes are highly manual and rely on tribal knowledge. - IT systems are mostly good and improving - At least IT is listening, partnering and driving key projects for sales and marketing (we are a sales company!) under the new CIO who actually showed us an IT strategy and changed the culture vs. in the past. Great and smart team but they don't seem to have enough resources to address our needs in sales and marketing. This seems to be a point of frustration for all involved. - A lot of change in the organization, but I do not see diversity in those being chosen to take on new leadership roles.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. It's team members like you who promote the collaborative culture within our organization. As you know, we are undertaking an array of ambitious IS initiatives, which include process automation as well as a new Intranet. In addition, our updated Epson 25 corporate strategy has provided us with laser-like focus, and our investments in personal growth, systems and processes are targeting many of the suggestions you recommend. We'd love to hear any additional ideas you may have about areas for improvement. Please share your ideas with us through the confidential internal employee communication channel, the Blue Line, and you can always contact the Executive Team directly at ExecFeedback@ea.epson.com.
