Pros

I can’t think of a single pro for this company that you wouldn’t find in another company. I guess the office is in a good location?

Cons

New owners are gutting the company and firing some of the founding members of the company in an effort to run things cheaper. By that same token, the client services team is underfunded and under supported. Two team members left at once in April and Equilend did not backfill the roles, leading to burnout across the rest of the team members (all of which had less than 3 months tenure). We were basically left to flounder. Now that I have left I understand they plan on replacing my role with one outsourced in India. I have also heard that the company plans on outsourcing MANY more jobs to India so they can save money. This leads to a disconnected team, where you don’t even know who you’re working with, which is hard when you need help. One of the London managers for this team has a bad habit of isolating a team member during meetings and picking apart work they completed to embarrass them publicly. It’s not a good environment to work in. Teams largely don’t talk to one another due to time zone differences. The company was hit by a cyber attack this year due to their lack of preparedness and outdated security. As a result of this we have been told that all of our bonuses would be impacted due to the loss of revenue. So the average joe employee is paying the price of their laziness. Training materials and documentation are a joke. I was lied to about the role I applied for. BEWARE THE CLIENT SERVICES ROLE. You will be expected to perform IT work alongside your responsibilities for no extra pay or thanks. You will have to answer client calls all day on a phone system that does not work but the company will not invest in a better one. Your working hours will be an hour or two longer than every other department at the company. They WILL NOT provide you with equipment. You are expected to provide all equipment yourself. Their Remote Days scheme is poorly implemented and restricts employees from moving further from the office as they will need to be in office 3 out of every 5 weekdays. The pay and compensation is NOT competitive for the work and skillset required. Other companies compensate 10k higher and offer better benefits too. The employees will say “the company will take care of you” but there are no opportunities career advancement within the org.

We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a better experience during your tenure with us. We take all feedback seriously and are always looking for ways to improve as the business grows and evolves. At EquiLend, we pride ourselves on being a global and inclusive firm with employees all over the world, including Ireland, India, Hong Kong, Japan, the United States, Canada, the UK and beyond. The global nature of our business means staff collaborate closely throughout the workday with team members across different locations, which can present unique challenges but is key to our success in serving our clients all over the world. Most staff find this to be a rewarding experience, which is reflected in the overwhelmingly positive feedback we receive in the annual Great Place to Work surveys of our employees. We have heard your concerns, and they are being discussed with the relevant employees. If you would like to discuss your experience further, we encourage you to contact us at human.resources@equilend.com.
