Pros

Esri is the leader in GIS. Esri maintains a strong market position that seems unwavering.

Cons

Middle management is clueless with no vision. Middle management remains detached from reality and is just there to make sure Jack's priorities are being executed on. Lower management is hit or miss, and unfortunately the misses heavily out weigh the hits. The company is located in a pretty bad city, with high crime and some of the highest pollution in the US. Combine that with poor raises and no upward growth in your position even if you excel and you have a recipe for high turnover, losing the most skilled employees and leaving only the slackers who stick around because they can't work anywhere else.

Pros

There's a lot of turnover in certain teams which can mean you can get into management roles quicker. The company to work for if you are into GIS. You will find some people that are genuinely customer oriented.

Cons

If you know someone higher up the food chain, you can grab roles that you wouldn't otherwise be considered for. You will find management say one thing and do another thing. They talk about career paths all the time, but when it comes to giving employees an opportunity, they will find an excuse to not support you. Low pay, hardly any vacation time.

Micromanagement, and a lot of politics.

Pros

Flexible work schedule Benefits Training

Cons

Limited paid time off your first 3 years. No bonuses, and limited raises. Management doesn't listen. Working in support is like working in a CALL CENTER/HELP DESK. The job ad is false advertised. You do not know what you are getting yourself into until you start working. You are MICROMANAGED. Working in support is all about metrics/numbers. If you do not meet your metrics one week, you are chastise. Working in support makes you feel like you are glued to your chair, answering calls all day. If you take a break, you are asked why you are not logged into your phone taking calls; you feel like you are not valued. My advise would be not to work in support unless you are looking to work in a help desk environment, taking calls all day. Maybe working in other parts of ESRI is better, but working in ESRI support is not something you would want to do or make a career out of.
