Authentic Startup Experience

Pros

Ethos is a great place for a consumer-focused Product Manager to have serious impact on customers and the business. We aren't afraid to place big bets and run lots of experiments. Red tape, at least at this stage of our journey, is minimal. If you're willing to jump in to the deep end, take ownership, and solve hard problems, you will be rewarded. You definitely get 2 years of PM experience for every year spent at ethos.

Cons

Ethos isn't for everyone. Ethos has a high intensity, high accountability culture where results really matter. Managers are empathetic and kind but expect you to deliver, plain and simple.

Pros

tl;dr - Massive learning opportunity, Very data driven, Fiscally responsible management, Supportive Leadership. - You get to learn and grow beyond your skillsets so much here, because there are no predefined swim-lanes. So many areas and opportunities for impact, that its for your taking if you have the interest and time. - A very data driven company where no decisions are made without data, and its a place where analysts can thrive and there time is constantly in demand from the stakeholders - A responsible senior management, which saw the economic swings before most other series D startups, and went into survival mode early on, and now we are a company with a very comfortable and long runway, and a business which is humming. - Leadership who is generally supportive and is able to shield from getting overwhelmed with too many conflicting priorities (like i said, everyone wants your time here). In short this is the best startup experience you could get today with a company that already has a humming business.

Cons

tl;dr - too fast paced for some, and need to reconcile with hard business decisions - Things move fast at Ethos, and you need to be able to balance moving with velocity, with doing thoughtful work driving new initiatives. This is not an easy art and you should be either already skilled at that or be willing to invest to learn here very quickly on the job. - A fiscally responsible management means hard decisions have to be taken which involve making some hardcore business prioritization decisions (like stopping work on unprofitable or negative ROI areas, or letting go of employees struggling to work at companies pace). You need to be able to put these things in your stride if you are working here.

Great startup

Pros

- Filled with smart and talented people, very focused on intellectual honesty - 'Can do' culture where you can really go to work on your best ideas to help the company grow. Truly feels like you're contributing to business growth and you can see the results of your efforts - Compassionate managers and leaders - Lots of flexibility around remote work and hours - Hasn't gotten as bloated as many Series D companies are, operates like a smaller startup while still being well-funded

Cons

- Culture is very fast paced, and sometimes priorities feel like 'flavor of the month' where they're hot topics for a few weeks and then disappear completely
