Sales, sales, sales and management by fear

Pros

hours are fairly good and it's not a difficult job. if you perform, you will actually make some decent money, but it will take a year or so to build up to pipeline to achieve this.

Cons

Management likes to lead by fear and will almost never provide any type of encouragement for a job well done. I constantly felt stressed out at this job because every account manager acts like your direct manager and will require different things of you. It was not uncommon for orders from managers to directly contradict each other.

Not a bad first job

Pros

Apex recruits well - if you start with the company you are guaranteed to meet a few new friends; the environment is "work-hard, play-hard" You will learn some things about sales, deadlines, and working with others

Cons

The compensation is not fantastic while you are working up to management, although many jobs are that way when you start off. You are expected to stay as long as needed after hours to fill specific positions; this job can inhibit your work/life balance

Great if you're on the sales team...

Pros

A small to medium size company that has grown quickly and offered numerous opportunities for promotions and career development.

Cons

Growth has been decidedly driven by higher than average commissions for the sales team, which comes at the cost of financial support of the Shared Services department. This reflects particularly in the management team; they get what they pay for. A great company if you're looking for an opportunity to build your resume as those who are truly qualified won't work for what they are paying.
