      Layoffs that could have been avoided

      Pros

      Great benefits. Fun office in Austin. Your average coworker will be awesome and passionate about Everly, making healthcare more accessible etc. The leadership team gave everyone a few days notice that layoffs were going to happen. They offered a good severance package.

      Cons

      While some leaders are great, others are bullies. For some, it's their way or the highway. Everly grew exponentially during COVID, but now that COVID is dying down/gone, revenue is taking a big hit. Did you not see this happening? Did you think the growth from COVID was going to last forever? Leadership hired people just because they could, and now we're taking the hit. 2 massive layoffs are unacceptable, and could have been avoided with smart growth.

      Pros

      - great place to get experience doing challenging things - great place to force yourself to learn to set boundaries and demand clarification from leaders - great stepping stone to the next opportunity

      Cons

      - leadership wants to be everything, everywhere, at the same time, without clear strategic initiatives to do so - everyone with a background in health, medicine, or science is forced out or leaves because leadership fundamentally doesn't value scientific and medical rigor over marketing claims - chaotic in terms of projects and their projected value. Lots of "scrap this, we wanna chase this next shiny market butterfly now instead", followed by "oh, actually the first and well-thought out idea was better after all". All. The. Time.

      The people there believe they can make a difference

      Cons

      It took some time to realize that I was working in constant fear, I could not bear to think that I took a job in a broken company, but I did. Everywhere I looked, things did not add up. My co-workers were depressed, sick, and scared. There is no strategic focus and the leadership team is downright scary smart in their manipulation of employees. An ethical audit is needed.
