"beatings" will continue until morale improves

Pros

Lots of great people, decent benefits, and a willingness to try different technical solutions

Cons

The company keeps building on broken solutions and processes that require ongoing heroics from staff to perform basic business functions, while making large investments that fail on new features with little analysis or planning. There are obvious internal salary inequities. Many executives are snide, sarcastic, and demeaning to other employees whose jobs they won't deign to understand. High pressure, unreasonable demands, and competing priorities from the leadership team contribute to high levels of stress among the rank and file. Restructuring and layoffs have happened on an ongoing basis since early 2023, with 3 large layoffs (10%+ each) and a lot of smaller stealth layoffs. Senior leadership struggles with consistency and execution, yet chronically ignores or rejects feedback from lower-level management and ICs.

Pros

Remote work and that’s about it.

Cons

Bullies from the top. The general manager of the enterprise business is a huge bully which also gives the green light for everyone under her to terrorize other departments. It’s disgusting behavior and even school children know better.

A tangled mess.

Pros

"Transparency" in communicating the general health and economics of the business, very talented and passionate staff, decent pay and benefits.

Cons

Typical growing pains of a fast-growing start-up mix + out-of-touch management + lack in transparency about intercompany politics... all while not listening to staff = a lot is falling through the cracks.

Hello, thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry you didn’t value your experience at Everlywell. Start-ups are hard and oftentimes we are required to pivot, pick up slack, or be opportunistic. We strive to make every individual feel like they have a voice here, and we work to get better at it each day. We certainly agree that there are growing pains with a fast-growing startup. Management works very hard (see examples below) to ensure employees are heard and responded to daily, both anonymously and not anonymously. This ranges from anonymous employee surveys to 1x1s with the CEO to bi-weekly townhalls and quarterly business reviews that reserve a significant amount of time for questions. Company-wide action plans are published to the company and communicated to the board as well. In 2019, we began measuring our employee NPS anonymously via CultureAmp twice a year on a number of vectors, and we publish that data to both the company and our board with an action plan that we hold ourselves accountable for. Our most recent employee NPS, conducted in November 2019, had 100% participation and was a +78 overall for the company and a +86 for management (above +70 is considered strong and +80 is considered best-in class). If you would like to speak about your feedback more in-depth, we'd love to hear from you and ensure we can make Everlywell a great place as we grow for others. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the people team at people@everlywell.com.
