Pros

Consider working here a crash course in digital media. Genuinely nice, helpful coworkers exist here but they are far and few between. Nice kitchen. Free fruit in the morning as well as coffee, tea. Occasional free meals. Soda and Snack machines with reduced prices.

Cons

Unfortunately the benefits above do not make up for a hostile and unprofessional work environment . They are always hiring because of the never ending revolving door. Both Editorial and Sales Departments seem to be run by cliques of Corporate teenagers. If coworkers size you up as being not part of the "popular" crowd, you are fair game to be set up to fail. Backstabbing and nasty behavior is actually encouraged. Sales Department proudly refers to themselves as "Team Nasty," where former employees are made examples of in meetings. Decisions based on pleasing CEO and Senior Management, rather than what is best practice. Do not work here if you have any self respect.

Pros

I think probably one of the best things about the company is that it focuses on a very dynamic growth area (online health information) that I am pretty sure will only continue to grow as the audience of consumers for online health information continues to grow.

Cons

I noticed in the last year of my employment that I and my former colloeagues were continually hearing from the top level of management (ALMOST ALL OF WHOM were newcomers to the organization) about how the employees of EHI were the most valuable and important asset to the firm...and yet when it came to treatment of same (such as in ensuring that annual reviews and also more frequent feedback to employees was happening) they were falling flat. It's great to hear all the cheer leading about the value of employees...but when employees are truly experiencing no real substance behind the message ("the emperor has no clothes") coming from management it creates terrible morale.
