Pros

Used to have good people. Not anymore Used to have good leadership. Not anymore Used to retain talent. Not anymore Used to care about the bottom line. Not anymore

Cons

Do you have long term career goals? Do not come here. Exeter laid off all the associates that created this company. They closed 40 branches and laid off several hundred employees (and still counting). They slashed EVERYONE's pay and cut bonuses. We all understand the company was in financial trouble, but the communication has been that they do not care who stays or who goes. They set new salaries that are not close to the industry standard and have resorted to hiring associates with no knowledge or background in this market. The new CEO, Tom Anderson, has not only proven he does not care for his employees (see comments on this website), he also does not have a auto history to support the extremely poor choices he has made. Anyone can see his linkedin profile and his random history as a ship sinker/turn around specialist. Exeter brand now means nothing to dealers, customers and employees. What used to be a blip on the radar to many larger lenders, is now a joke in the auto finance community. Dealers have given up and most auto employees know to stay away. Save yourself the hassle of looking for another job by December and just look for a career with a reputable company. In this area, you have many choices. Everyone at Exeter is looking for another job. All the executives have left including the founders, EVP's, head of HR and all the VP's, here's your sign!

Pros

Absolutely nothing Positive about this company!

Cons

Horrible company! Titanic on its way to the iceberg. If you receive an offer from this company, run the other way. Don't let the salary offered fool you! Some fast-food places have better management and know how to treat their employees better than this place. The employee morale is so low, the office area looks like a cemetery with all the empty cubes of the employees laid off. No one that I know there has lasted a full year. There is no rhyme or reason for their constant layoffs. Everyone is just waiting to be laid off. Funny, as they are walking you out, they are printing out new badges for new hires (fresh meat)!

Pros

Can't think if any other than Thank goodness I am not there any more...

Cons

There were quite a few very skilled, intelligent, highly productive team members who had high morale and desire for the company to succeed. However with the private equity/management consulting approach (a.k.a. laying more than 20% of the workforce off, and taking credit for other resources prior work that have led to a profitable year thus far, etc), the morale has and will continue to be very low as each Tuesday there are more lay-offs so you never know what to expect. if there are any long term employees (i.e. longer than 6 months) left then they are likely looking for other opportunities. This is a true real-world example of a private-equity/Wall Street approach to running a business...buy, squeeze profit by lay offs/restructure company, claim victory when profitable, sell entity, move on to another victim....this approach benefits only a few people at the top...Shameful short-sighted example of how to run a business...
