Pros

I really love the type of work I do at Exponent. Also, the pay is really great for someone fresh out of grad school. If you're a workaholic you will love to work here. You will learn to stand up for yourself and say no to management.

Cons

Understaffed. Workloads are too high. Managers expect all staff to be workaholics like them who are happy to work evenings/weekends. Who doesn't like casually working a couple hours every night after working a full day? Managers are good at over promising to clients and terrible at managing projects. Managers will ask for crazy things so they can barter with your free time to get what they wanted in the first place (e.g. if they want 10 hours of work over a weekend "I need you to work 30 hours this weekend. Oh you're on vacation, well then I'm sure you can just do this small thing and I'll find someone else to cover for you." When the 'small thing' is 10 hours of work. Also, don't paint staff like they're the bad guy for having a life just because you mismanaged a project or client expectations.) It gets worse during busy seasons.

Pros

1) Good place to start your career after earning a Ph.D. because not many companies today hire students straight out of graduate school with a Ph.D. 2) Good salary compensation; good to earn enough income to pay off your student loans quickly

Cons

1) Terrible work culture - employees are only viewed as disposable laborers and as numbers on a spreadsheet 2) No one actually cares about your progress in your career, your professional development, or even your personal sanity. They only care how much money can you make the firm
