Pros

-Many free hats, I get to do 3 peoples jobs and only get paid for 1! -Managers are super nice when corporate is around! -Humble paychecks, I wouldn't know what to do if I actually got paid for the amount of work I do. -You get cute notes from managers that don't like you because you don't kiss donkey or had to call out because your car got totaled and had no way to get to work. They call them write-ups I think... they sign them and everything even make up lies about you that they made up in their heads. So thoughtful -Never needed a vacation my 2 years of working I wasn't allowed to take one! - Managers don't bother to update you on new policys and updates from corporate. Who needs to know whats going on with the company you work for anyway?!

Cons

-Site managers lie to district managers who then lies to the regional managers so that everything seems peachy... or so that everything is the gsrs and housekeepings fault. -Favoritism but still one big family. -Toxic toxic toxic work environment. - If a company has to ask employees to give good Glassdoor reviews like this one...maybe its not so good? Just a thought. -Most site managers are under qualified to be managers. -Super unprofessional its like high-school but everyone is 35+ with kids and back pain. -Gsrs are used to obtain other guests companies and business info so that managers can send it in to corporate so they can get bonuses. Super cool!

Pros

Met some good people over the years. That's it.

Cons

I see many positive reviews from "Current" employees in management positions. You're either blind or a blatant suck up. That being said, sucking up is the best way to get ahead in this company. You don't need skills to work here as long as your lips are permanently fastened to upper managements posterior.Everyone else will simply be left behind, regardless of abilities. As the saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Whiners and chronic call off artists will get preferred treatment while honest, hard working types will have no choice but to pick up the slack. the length of the shift has no bearing as long as a warm body is present. But should that warm body get eight minutes of overtime, the hounds of hell will be released on you. Because you should have known better. Good, hard working employees are constantly abused while layabouts are coddled. This is only more aggravated when good employees who seek additional hours in an attempt to make ends meet are constantly turned away. The guidelines set for housekeeping are preposterous. You need to allow more time for proper cleaning, especially when you expect nothing but top notch medallia scores and TripAdvisor reviews to pour in like a Biblical Flood! You can't have both, and your failed Kai Zen is proof of this. Consider redacting this military practice, this is not a conquered nation, and you are not the Allied Powers. Your vision statement is a joke. Your shareholders? Seriously? Thats something you think but never openly admit! But look who we're dealing with! You don't "Grow your own" either. You beat the living Hades out of well-established employees, coddle the nuisance workers earning money for beer, hire outside people who have little to no experience in the field and pay them more then those who have proven themselves time and time again. this is just one reason why your turnover rate is as high as it is. R4R...Heavens! Where to begin? Of all the absurdities extended Stay has to offer, this one is the reigning champion. Sure, sales is an important part of any hospitality industry, and thats why the companies that do it right have actual sales people! Not desk clerks taking time away from making beds for housekeeping in order to make cold calls! Only to be put on hold for an indefinite amount of time! And then of course there is the all important quota, which changes with each conference call. And they do love their conference calls! But...make that quota! Or you face disciplinary actions. So tell me extended Stay...what exactly are the rewards? the commission the sales director probably doesn't receive for a desk clerks efforts? Hire more sales people and leave the desk clerks to their real job, helping overwhelmed housekeepers. Many other reviews here touch upon the work to life balance, There is none, plain and simple. An employee can be on vacation, out of state, and be contacted to come to work. If the employee requested vacation time, and was approved by management, they are not available to work! Whats so hard about that concept? Constant call offs by underpaid employees cause management to cover numerous shifts per week. You are constantly on call and your phone rings at all hours. This is not a job for someone with young children, a family of any kind, of hobbies. Don't you dare get sick or injured either! You do, and you're fired! Hurt on the job? You're fired! Pregnant? you're fired! Knee injury on company time? You're NOT fired, but were going to run you off! Whats that you say? you had a stroke? (Probably brought on by the work environment.) You're fired! Gee, were really sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with breast cancer. By the way...you're fired! you stay classy extended Stay! So if you enjoy dealing with obnoxious guests, hookers, drug dealers, drunks, foil hatters, crybabies, slogobeds, priceline and expedia guests who feel some insane sense of entitlement, call off artists, doomsayers, poorly renovated facilities, and incompetent people in high places...this is the place for you! If you don't, try a Hampton Inn, where they know how to treat people like people. Not like cattle. Or failing that, cattle dung.
