Pros

Engineers on my team are some of the brightest minds in the industry.

Cons

Blindsided by layoffs. It's somewhat telling that the oldest engineers appear to have been the desired target of the 2023 layoff season. Less than one week before the layoff, we were mandated to attend an All Hands meeting where we were bragged to about how well the company was doing. Additionally, the severance package was NONEXISTENT. Absolutely screwed over by my employer of over a decade.

Pros

None. Absolutely none. Do your research. Be smart stay away. They buy struggling companies Aerohive was going down. Avaya went bankrupt. Broadcom got rid of Brocade because it couldn’t compete. What happens when you combine 3 failing companies that have failing leadership? You get an epic trifecta of complete failure. Come on people use that wrinkled sponge inside your skull. Do your research. The new sd-wan company they acquired was also in struggles. Very late to get into sd-wan now. It’s just a checkbox for marketing purposes. Based on the reviews I read and yes I read them ALL a lot of the good reviews look bogus. Let me guess your considering Extreme because you can’t get a job anywhere else. If you can go to another company and better yet another technology do it. Stay away. I got out. Milked it enough. Time for change.

Cons

Absolutely no organic growth or innovation. Constant reorganization. Zero direction from Senior Leadership. Everything is mostly outsourced or done in India or China. Wrongfully understaffed and forcing people to put in extra time with zero incentives. People are leaving on busses. Not just engineers but managers and directors that are competent enough to get a job with a real company are getting out. Most of the people left are old timers milking it and/or completely useless and would never get a new job offer from another tech company. Do your research. The networking industry has been consolidating for years now. Nothing new in networking has happened other just new cheaper hardware. Your still putting a packet on the wire using 30 year old principals and software technologies. The cloud solution is nothing more than an off premise graphical user interface for devices.
