They pay really low for fresh graduates out of school.

Pros

Just ok, nothing special. Usually, work/life balance is good. Good thing is that if you need to work more because you have high priority project, you will usually get paid for over time.

Cons

You need to negotiate your salary initially. If you are just out of school without any other offer in your hand, HR will try to take advantage of that and offer you 15-30% below market. Be careful. Old people are really slow and don't care about moving project fast. In some groups, all people take break easily and don't care about project (it seems taking a break is part of their job schedule). But in few groups, you really need to work hard. This is not fair. All groups work either fast or slow. Some people take advantage of paid over time and freely walk around till 7pm without doing anything to just accumulate hours. And then, you need to work hard with stress without paid over time or not even well paid salary.

Pros

Good entry level job for someone with little to no I.T. experience. Pretty good benefits and pay. Large and stable company. Flexible work schedule. O/T very rarely required. Dress is business casual. There were some cool co-workers there

Cons

If you're not promoted within a couple of years from this position, take it as a hint that it's not going to happen. Once learned, the tasks and duties become dull and tedious with little opportunity to do anything interesting. Horribly inefficient work flow for publishing content to the web site. Web content specialists are caught between product marketing department and senior management. If deadlines are not met as a result of their actions or lack of, YOU and only YOU will be held accountable. Rather than fixing the obvious and streamlining the process, the standard response to the web content specialists is that they need to be more "proactive" in order to meet deadlines.

Best Employer of My Career

Pros

Over my engineering career this is far and above the best company I have worked for. Why? The team. Extron is careful to select competent, well-adjusted team players. You won't find prima donnas here. You won't find corporate bullies, hot heads, immature behaviorists. The work place is professional and respectful. I have been employed by those offering mega stock options, daily free fruit, come-and-go as you please, flip flops and Hawaiian shirts, fooseball, and, also by those requiring shirts-ties and adherence with a thick rule book. For me, the culture of Extron is a suitable balance of expectations. Yes there is a handbook that we adhere with and a time keeping system. But these are not satisfaction distractors, unless, the individual seeks the less professional more casual environment. If so, there are other career choices available. Have an apple and a nice day. Whenever you choose to start it. The work is ample, projects challenging, the tools are made available as justified, and opportunity abounds for those who seek it. People are treated like people, it is not a sweatshop, you can have a life and work here. Yes occasionally extra hours are required and/or a weekend day but in my experience, the work is interesting as is the will of the team to rise to whatever occasion presents itself. No, not everyone will fit, and sometimes that is not evident until some amount of time passes. I can only relate that my experience has been solid, satisfying, I have learned new skills, met some amazing people, and have furthered my career professionally and financially.

Cons

I have no complaints. The company has expectations of its employees, not out of balance with a professionally run organization.
