Pros

They have good health insurance and competitive 401k plans available to employees. They offer great training to prepare you for the real world.

Cons

You are not always aware of the direction of the company. There are some decisions that are made that do not make sense to those in the office.

Pros

You get to meet different people from all background and walks of life The training is pretty good as are the trainers They do make getting onto the job market easier

Cons

No pay till your first contract, outwith travel expenses You dont get treated with very much respect by account managers. Most. There is no guarantee you'll get a contract soon after your training. Bit of advice, don't start between late september & November. You don't get a say in the jobs you interview for or where you get placed. Unless you have a good reason i.e. a child. There is no guarantee the role you sign up for is what you'll end up doing.

FDM Group Response

I’m glad you rate the training highly and that you recognise FDM makes it easier to get onto the job market. I’m sorry you wouldn’t recommend FDM though. Our business model is based on assisting people launch/re-launch careers. The training period is financially funded by FDM: At that point people are training, rather than working – and the salary begins once they’re placed on a client site. It is also at that point when FDM can begin to make a return on the upfront investment that we make in people. We do try to accommodate preferences for placement where possible and, we like to encourage our consultants to join the clients as a permanent employee after the two year bond with FDM. So placing people somewhere which is not their preferred geographic location is not something FDM likes to do. That said, placement locations vary depending on client demand and therefore geographical flexibility is a requirement (which we reiterate throughout the recruitment process). We appreciate that the FDM Careers Programme may not suit everyone, but the vast majority of FDM consultants progress to enjoy successful and lucrative careers, which is what we set out to achieve. If you believe that anyone at FDM has disrespected you, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further so that I can personally investigate and address this.
