Leadership has lost it’s way…

Pros

Modern offices with good facilities Colleagues who genuinely care about the mission Many highly intelligent, capable people to collaborate with

Cons

FINRA is in an identity crisis. Leadership has abandoned the “people first” values that once set the organization apart. Return-to-office mandates keep climbing with no real business justification. Employees come into the offices to just take Zoom calls while leaders insist it’s about “collaboration.” The real issue is leadership. The MC is out of touch, and too many VPs are not strong leaders. Many of them got their jobs by playing the game and managing up, not by delivering results. Some are actively making their teams’ work harder, yet they’re protected because they know how to look good to the MC. This has created a culture where poor performance at the top is ignored, while high performers either burn out or leave. Career growth is almost nonexistent. Employees are told to complete IDPs, but without visible career pathways, it feels meaningless.

Pros

Good coworkers and good benefits

Cons

If we mainly worked from home 100% for almost 5 years and did well why we gotta go back to the office?! Makes no sense and on top of that how could there not even be no wage increase to cover the additional expenses to be in the office

Tech org perspective

Pros

Good benefits and above average pay, if you negotiate and your skills are in demand. 9-5 job, no stress.

Cons

There is a thick and stagnant layer of upper/senior management that wants to cruise to retirement in this company, and as a result, there are little opportunities to grow. Work is interesting if you are part of 20% of projects that use that cool tech that is advertised everywhere. For the majority of time, you will be building products and services that already exist, but the cruising to retirement management layer convinced the board to allocate the $$ to build it in house. Analysis paralysis and indecision is an epidemic. Tech management completely lacks diversity past associate director level. Favoritism is rampant. Disagreements with the management result in contract termination / performance plans.
