The people are great, the management not so much

Pros

The folks on the contract are mostly great - friendly, kind, and committed. Even most of the people at the corporate office are great. Honestly, I'm even positive about MOST of Senior Management - they are caring and decent. The majority of the staff are smart, hard-working, and I would work with most of them any time.

Cons

The one problem this company has is the CEO (or whatever he calls himself). He is an egomaniac, who never asks for input, hands down edicts like they are peanut butter sandwiches and everyone wants one. Gives zero, zip, nada thought to how his failed policies affect those who work for him, makes promises he can't keep, and is a bit of a snake-oil salesman.

Thank you for your review. We agree with you that our staff is great and work hard, both supporting our employees in the field and supporting our customers in their missions. Although we strive to be the best in all we do, we acknowledge that everything (and everyone) can't always meet everyone's needs and expectations. Unfortunately, there are times when personalities clash and, in a corporate environment, policies and changes can feel more personal than intended. We offer many communication channels, including an anonymous annual employee satisfaction survey, for employees to provide this type of feedback and any recommendations for improvement. Although you are no longer employed with us, we would like to hear how we may have been able to improve your experience. Please reach out to us at qc@fsafederal.com with any additional feedback you may have.

Pros

*Pay was always on time *Very rarely had to deal with anyone from corporate *They do provide sick leave, because it is mandated in DC *Literally nothing else

Cons

*If the company is not legally mandated to provide it- they will not do so. And they’ll lie to you about it. *For example, was told numerous times by several people from main office that they were ‘legally not allowed to pay more than $X per hour, as mandated by government for various labor categories .’ Regardless of previous experience/tenure. And regardless of how many people’s work each employee was expected to do on a permanently understaffed contract. As it turns out they legally cannot pay LESS than they the maximum they profess to have for each labor category. This information is publicly available online. -Very little concern for the success or continuity of the contract I was on. Did not have a pipeline of potentials to extend offers to, like predecessor companies, so whenever employees left (which was frequently- see underpayment above) they would have a whole new round of hiring. But the candidates extended offers could either never pass security or the security process took so long that by the time they were cleared they had found other suitable employment. *Ergo, perpetual understaffing. But no concern on the company side to solve the problem because not only were remaining employees just barely able to limp along and get just enough done with 1/3 staff, but the contract was prepaid so FSA was fully compensated for all positions whether they were filled or not. You can see why they didn’t really care to fully staff and therefore have to pay employees. *No raises, based on either tenure or merit. Not even annual cost of living raises in one of the most expensive metro areas in the country. So enjoy paying to work for them if by chance you decide to do so. *They didn’t even match any 401k contributions until calendar year 2022! *Very poor PTO compensation. *Very few opportunities for growth and advancement for normal employees.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate you including your positive experiences, as well as your advice. Unfortunately, it sounds like there may have been some miscommunication as our pay rates are set according to our contracts and the Department of Labor; however, whenever it is possible for us to increase pay rates for employees, we do. Career progression can often be difficult on government contracts; however, FSA strives to provide employees with opportunities to improve skills and increase knowledge by providing various training opportunities and a tuition-reimbursement program. Employees are also encouraged to apply for higher level positions when appropriate. Regarding our 401(k), some changes were made during the early part of the pandemic; however, these changes were temporary and we feel our benefits package, to include a 401(k) match, is robust and offers great options. Finally, we have one of the best recruiting teams in the industry and our candidates are selected based on the unique needs of each position with each customer. That said, we are always seeking to improve and would love to hear your specific suggestions; please email them to qc@fsafederal.com to get the conversation started.
