Pros

You will be working with knowledgeable, senior professionals. Some are eager to develop their peers, others not so much. The offices are all reasonably stocked with supplies and snacks to keep you going. At least in my experience, my senior management was eager to throw me in the deep end and see what happens. I loved the challenge.

Cons

It's consulting, you have to be flexible. Some weeks you may only work 40 hours, others much more. If you don't like traveling, it likely isn't for you. There isn't much of a guide to climbing the ladder, and the policies between offices are not consistent. It's a publicly traded company, so they can be stingy on bonus' and salary adjustments. I've never had to barter so much in my career.

Pros

-Base salary is competitive (health solutions practice) -Peers and team members are intelligent and experienced -Business continues to grow and we continue to expand our service lines -Aggressive growth (all organic) over the last few years

Cons

-Bonuses & comp increases over the last few years have been disappointing -Little, if any, transparency exists around the promotion process -No training budget = no professional development opportunities (unless you want to go out on your own to an industry conference) -Inconsistencies in project staffing mean roles change drastically from one project to the next, even at the Director level -Lack of internal leverage means Directors often "step down" to get the work done -Demanding travel schedule and requests for on-site presence (Fridays, holiday weeks, etc.)

Pros

competitive pay opportunity to travel 100% of the time (hint of sarcasm)

Cons

In the Healthcare practice there is poor advancement at the Director level on up; the firm consistently fills Managing Director and Senior Managing Director positions with rejects from the Big Four consultancies
