Pros

FTI allowed me to understand the nuances of consulting and as well gave me the opportunity to network and reach out to other people and companies.

Cons

Not a lot of friendly people. Often chastised and made to work way harder than the other interns at the company

Pros

Interesting and complicated projects. Ability to work in different industries. Huge range of learning opportunities. Autonomy over work products and deliverable. Great, dedicated, co-workers and peers. Fairly flexible schedule. Good salary and benefits.

Cons

No leadership. Very difficult to create efficient work process, and build and grow a team, when the Senior Managing Directors (SMDs) and Managing Directors (MDs) do not seem to care. This tends to be a cultural problem throughout the company. SMDs/MDs are put in charge of teams but then do not know how to build, grow or strength the consultants on that team. Very frustrating for business and team oriented people. The company also lacks sufficient infrastructure to leverage teams, people, and technology across sectors. I believe this is a legacy problem due to FTI's businesses model of growing by acquisition. Since the acquisition model is coming to end and an organic growth model is picking up, this would be a good time to invest in centralized business processes across the company. Updating software, servers, etc...all the things that every employee needs to use.
