Pros

Thank God for the Pathology doctors, they are wonderful to work with or I would have left long ago. 401(b) match is good.

Cons

Terrible supervisors/manager in path office who allows certain employees special privileges (not showing up to work weekly) and others get called on the carpet for missing a couple of hours for medical appointments. No equity, no supervision (shut in office most of days), has given authority to 2 nonworking employees while the rest in the office do all the work, theirs and the supposedly shared work for all team members. Definitely never been a team environment since current supervisor has been there. Fairview upper level doesn't seem to supervise either or these people would be pressured to either do their job or be replaced. Lousy PTO and/or SST given, recently reduced PTO time this year and it was practically nonexistent before. I haven't had a week off for years. If you take a day off for illness it comes out of PTO, if you want a paid holiday (only a few a year if they happen to fall on a weekday) that comes out of PTO as well. Hard to accumulate even a week vacation a year.

Pros

Experienced colleagues, trainings with infection prevention, and kind nursing aides. Benefits.

Cons

Some shifts lacking in support. Night shift commit to staying 1 hour after shift doing charting since physicians put orders in 1 hour before nursing shift change, and spend 30 minutes after shift talking with management. Exposure to lots of highly infectious bacteria and toxic medication.
