Pros

FT employment with Fairview offers fairly good healthcare benefits: The healthcare insurance offered by Fairview is, overall, relatively good and comprehensive. Cost wise however, one is locked in to an "in network" provider base. OON providers and services will be more costly. Additionally, Fairview does not offer top notch care in all specialties or services so one is faced with the decision of paying more for first rate care or settling for substandard.

Cons

Fairview promotes the concept that all employees matter and are an important part of the whole. Hence their saying (which is on all ID badges) "I am Fairview." This is all rubbish. Allied health support staff matters little and individual's opinions and ideas matter not at all. The Human Resources department is focused solely on supporting management and their decisions. Thus, the concept of their being any sort of advocacy for the employee from HR is nonexistent. There is a serious disconnect between Fairview administration and staff. Administration at Fairview knows little to nothing about what providers and support staff face and deal with on a regular basis and there appears no desire to learn. Providers and staff are not just overburdened with rules and regulations from administration, they are vitually crippled. FMG (Fairview Medical Group), the administrative entity which oversees all Fairview affiliated clinics, is perhaps the worst example of this ignorant micromanagement approach. Sadly, while all the healthcare staff is affected adversely by this dysfunctional approach to management, it is the patients who suffer and pay the real price!

Pros

Staff is pretty easy to work with, decent benefits and using Epic is easy to learn. Overall not a bad place.

Cons

Management is all over the place, lack of consistency, some favortism and the tend to place managers in positions to manage small groups of people in which they have no idea what the groups duties are. Focus to much on managements "degree" rather than the their ability to manage people, i.e...are they really a good fit for the job.
