-Extremely confusing hierarchy-you will and always will be your employee number
-Just because there is a lot of work doesn't mean you'll be working, this goes back to number one and the fact that PM's don't always share their people even if there's work with other PM's
-As a new employee you will be treated like you don't belong-the original T&C employees do not like new employees and openly show it(this goes for the field employees)
-The overhead has grown so large that no one really communicates internally
-They have created an environment where the only thing that matters is money and advancement. There is no longer any concern for the employees as people. HR states that they have gotten too large to deal with people, they deal in protocol.
-They have clearly forgotten what got them where they are
-They talk a heavy safety game but I was told to cut several corners to get jobs done. When I would bring my concerns back to the PM instructing me to do this, it was simply get the job done anyway possible without getting caught.
-They will fill your mailbox with constant company mailings-even though a majority of their workers are travelers they send out snail mail flyers about jobs and other things.
-The new people that they are hiring in overhead have little or no experience in the actual field. They know nothing about the trade so they have no idea what the workers are actually going through. A business degree is great but not understanding the trade leads to bad decisions.
-They claim to be employee owned but you will have no say in the company. Your company stock purchase carries no rights with the company. And if you leave you will have to wait until an open enrollment period to then have to get permission from them to get your money out of their stock. If your an investor it is a poor choice. Although the value went up substantially over the past few years I would see the growth slowing. Its a poor investment option with little reward.
-They love to train. They have a week long blocks for you go to for training on all their safety items. Be aware that if you are in line for a raise it will be held until you go to this. Even if you are unable because of work commitments (shutdowns). You will then have to jump through hoops to get approval to get your raise. It has changed a little but is disheartening when your busting your butt for them and they choose to withhold raises from you for this reason. Also these training weeks become a drinking fest where a lot of the guys come in either drunk or very hung over and nothing is done about it.
-Unless you are working directly for upper management you will get lost in the system.
Faith is not a horrible company or even bad. They would not have had the success they have had if they were. The changes that have come after Rollie left have completely changed it from an employee friendly company where people were encouraged to learn and excel to one where people are encouraged to step on whoever they can and use what ever means possible to get to the top. People there have been blinded by the scramble for new positions and power. Its a shame.
