Exciting Company, Poor Leadership

Pros

Fanatics is truly a disruptor in every market pertaining to sports. Rewarding waking up for a company that you know is trying it's hardest to be the best that it can be. Also many great people working there for many years.

Cons

Within the Distribution organization there are two leaders running the operation who may have the most toxic personalities I have ever come across in a professional setting. It also doesn't help that they share the same mindsets and drown in their own thoughts and pessimism while cascading that to everyone else within the operation. They continue to hold back aspiring leaders and team members due to their belief that they aren't ready to move, but in the same breath don't provide enough opportunities to allow these team members to grow or offer any forward thinking on how to grow themselves. They also rely on these same people to run the operation and have no idea nor care to learn how to run it themselves. It's unfortunate, a lot of great people who can do much more, but the two leaders on top continue to hurt themselves. They take advantage of one front line Supervisor in particular who they know will never say no, forcing her to open the building and close the building routinely while taking half the amount of "discretionary" time off as others who work there as well. Leadership needs to see this and force a fair and less complacent workplace.

Nepotism and Favoritism Run Deeps

Pros

I was one of the lucky few who was able to work remotely but there was even a lot of hypocrisy with that. The VP of my department pushed for in-person work even though she was also 100% remote. The benefits were decent, but not great, getting a discount on the merch was cool but that's about it. Otherwise, don't work here unless you like an uphill battle that never ends.

Cons

Managers do not practice what they preach at all. There was a constant "growth mindset" mentality but leadership was never open to new ideas, constantly put you and your ideas down, and was extremely and openly biased and discriminated against new, younger talent. Most of the managers and directors knew each other from Disney which created a huge vortex of nepotism and favoritism that was very obviously felt throughout the entire team. No one was provided the opportunity to learn or grow in their roles, especially if they were new to those roles or skills. Additionally, there is 0 performance management system in place which translated to bad behavior being perpetuated and even coddled with 0 consequences. There was no clear path to career growth even though you were told to "own your own career development". How are you supposed to grow when there's no foundation and no direction from anyone? There were at least 2 - 3 organizational changes within my department and the CPO had even gotten pushed out with no notice back in the fall. Overall, this company is extremely toxic, everyone is in a constant state of self-preservation. There are a lot of white male leaders who get away with toxic masculine behavior and garbage leadership abilities but are still rewarded at the end of the day since Fanatics is a sports company still primarily dominated by the same toxic white men. My advice? Don't work here, it's not worth your mental health nor the discounted merch. There are over 10,000 employees which means you are just another cog in their wheel to help Michael Rubin make money.

Pros

- You get to come to work as casual as you want. Actually ended up being a con as dealing with people who obviously hadn't showered in a day or two was a little off putting. - All sports all the time. Again in some ways became a con as there was work to be done after every major sporting event, making it hard to actually enjoy sports. That's about it.

Cons

- Working tirelessly through the major holiday season instead of being with family should be enough to turn most people off to this place. Making all employees sacrifice their lives from November 1 - December 31 mainly due to the unstable infrastructure in place and getting nothing but a "Good job" makes it terrible enough. An online retail company should feel confident that they will perform during the busiest buying season of the year without making it all hands on deck. -No real room for growth here. With the new regime in place, it became pretty apparent that if you're not in San Francisco you'd might as well not even work there. -Archaic infrastructure as mentioned before. Constantly putting out fire after fire instead of focusing on bettering the environment. If you are in IT, you will spend a considerable amount of time troubleshooting issue after issue. -Don't expect any real guidance from management. Just go in, do your job and have meeting after meeting to provide countless status updates. The overall score of this place speaks for itself. I would rate it 0 stars if it were possible. Read the reviews and decide for yourself, but the numbers don't lie on this one.
