Pros

They have some really talented and friendly software developers.

Cons

They have a standing policy of doing rounds of layoffs every 6 months. ~ It's a very political environment. ~ They can't build systems to scale at all. ~ They're losing traffic and revenue to vistaprint.com ~ Rather than being completely original they have weekly meetings where they discuss among other things, how they can implement features found on vistaprint.com. ~ They don't license software as they should i.e. they make millions of iText but refuse to license it. ~ They ship off as many jobs as possible to their Russia office in Saratov. ~ I.T. considers transparency as enemy #1 and the Cloud as enemy # 2. ~ Requires people to work 45 to 50 hour weeks, but only credits for things such as accrued vacation based on 40 hour weeks.

We take strong exception to your review, as it misrepresents software development at our subsidiary (Farheap Solutions, Inc. has no software developers), as well as purports to present factual information about the company's business practices, but distorts that information beyond recognition. The company has no policy whatever of "doing rounds of layoffs every 6 months". We do not now have that policy, nor do we ever intend to implement one like it. We do periodically review the performance of all employees, from customer service reps to software developers, and release employees who are not productive or who block the company's progress. The company also prides itself on maintaining software licenses for the software it uses. Since one of our subsidiaries does in fact create and license software, we are sensitive to intellectual property matters and always seek to respect the IP of software providers large and small. Regarding your claims with respect to competitors: Even if you were correct (and you are not), you violate the terms of the NDA you signed upon accepting employment with the software subsidiary of the Farheap group. We can assure other job seekers that this reviewer's claims regarding "failing" business are utterly without merit and baseless. Yes, we did release a few software developers recently, but due to poor performance. In every case, the teams these former employees left are working smarter and more cohesively since the departure of the former devs. We do wish this reviewer the best of luck in finding a company that is better suited to his or her skill sets. Every company has a unique culture. The Farheap culture encourages fun, camaraderie, passionate debate -- and most of all, excellence.

Pros

Being part of farheap for almost a year, reshaped my career. The company is always ever evolving and growing providing multiple opportunities to their employees. It is a fast paced environment with a start up feel. You get to wear many hats and work with all departments. If you are looking for a 9-5 job, this is definitely not the place for you. Only people who are hard workers, passionate about their job and love what they do can survive here. Everyone appreciates one another and works in collaboration to constantly improve things and achieve the business goals. At the same time, you do get the work life balance. Everyone is flexible in the company as long as you get your work done, meet yours deadlines. The best part is everyone works here as family irrespective of their differences. Love my team members. They definitely make my day go by with a lot of fun.

Cons

Wish the benefits are better than what they are today.

Pros

The best thing about this company is the big monitors that they provide for you. Occasional donuts and snacks from time to time. The benefits are okay and it seems that Brett, the CEO is an extremely hard worker. Though I see this company (Overnightprints) on the decline, they will be around for awhile because of their cheap prices.

Cons

A lot of things wrong with this company. I don't usually write reviews, but I think it's important to write this so that future employees are aware of the problems that occur with this company and that management can fix the issues. Marketing Management - I'll just say that it seems that marketing management is not qualified for their roles. A lot of times I found myself questioning their decisions and I truly believe that none of them know anything about branding or how to manage a team. They like to gossip and talk a lot. They like to take long hourly breaks and not work. I honestly don't know how they've been here for so long. If you get hired at Farheap, you will understand. Communication - Horrible. Not clear on objectives and goals. They do have a lot of pointless meetings that don't seem to be effective. Social Media - If you are offered a social media position at this company, be aware that they have purchased fake followers on their social media accounts (overnightprints.com). They love posting only promotions and offers. They don't really care about improving their customer engagement other than defusing negative comments from angry customers. Their social media strategy is messed up. Creative and Branding - The process is horrible. So like most places, you have to request creative. The problem is that after you request it, it is always late. When you receive it, it's usually wrong, off-brand, and just flat out terrible. When you ask for changes, you will hear a complaint about why it should be good for what you need anyway. It's frustrating... Nobody in marketing management understands branding. The brand message is always inconsistent, graphics are done from people from Russia. I am surprised that the creative gets approved by management for customers to see. It's just shocking to me to see how they are letting the Overnightprints brand decline from what it used to be. Projects - They are starting 5 new completely different businesses at the same time when their main company Overnightprints.com is losing sales. If you've tried starting a business before, you know how hard it is to start just one business. These businesses are great ideas but I see a lot of problems going into the future. I see a lot of below-average work for a long time until they make changes. Hours - Not a deal killer but 8am to 6pm. Seems long?

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to take the time to address the below. First, we try our best to and are truly glad to hear we could provide the proper tools, resources and benefits (including the occasional sweet treat!) to create a comfortable environment for our valued staff. Our CEO definitely sets the bar as a tireless and exemplary worker due to his passion for the company and its employees. Secondly, we do offer competitive pricing for our print products, as you mentioned, which certainly comes with its challenges. Our goal for the past 15 years is and has always been to deliver an affordable, quality product. We agree that it is important for employees to communicate any concerns so that we have an opportunity to properly address and handle them internally. We are sorry to have to hear your issues through this review. As a future measure, we will ensure employees feel free to provide any pertinent feedback to continue improving the work environment. In the past year, our organization has been going through some major structural changes that have heavily affected the marketing department. This has challenged our management team to help build and establish new roles while simultaneously continuing daily operations at its peak. The company has been working very hard to improve internal communication processes to avoid these kinds of frustrations. This, of course, takes time and can be a slow process in the midst of managing multiple brands as an organization. Meetings at our organization are meant to accomplish different goals, which sometimes involves general brainstorming to see what sticks, but the main objective always is to maintain open communications. Our social media platforms serve several purposes, including but not limited to customer service. They are also a source of information on upcoming deals and offers, and at the same time, used to share engaging, original content with our customers. We believe our strategy should always be balanced between providing promotional material as well as making available resources to aid in our customers’ various printing needs. Part of that strategy is to provide more personal attention by connecting customers to dedicated Customer Service Agents through phone, live chat and email instead. Our structural changes have also increased the demands on our creative team. We understand your frustration as the entire team is going through a transformation in structure and marketing needs. For this, we applaud our designers for working tirelessly with talent overseas to produce art for multiple brands in various marketing channels, including social media. Starting a business is hard, and keeping a competitive edge is never easy. Much of the team’s efforts in meetings has been to contribute ideas and strategies toward preparing for future needs. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback. We value your input toward creating the ideal work environment for the Farheap family.
