IT culture as outdated as technology
Pros
There are some really great people on the IT side at Farmers, both employees and contractors. A few leaders are really trying to make a difference, bringing in SAFe Agile to replace waterfall. All of the good people have the same thing in common - they keep giving even when the recipient is ungrateful. The good people find each other and support each other.
Cons
The history of outsourcing IT is still alive there. Some departments are trying to hire in-house engineering teams, but churn is high because the culture of the company hasn't changed. Toxic managers are never gotten rid of, something that baffled me until I started trying to hire people - due to location, reputation or other factors, positions take a long time to fill. The good people seem to land here by accident. They suffer the all-night releases, lack of support and disorganization and don't give up quickly enough.
