Pros

Constant learning, awesome coworkers, and my direct supervisor is amazing.

Cons

It used to be a great place to work, but now there is no advancement unless you’re one of the favorites and it’s become such a negative place to be. 98% of the supervisors are never around and when an agent calls requesting a supervisor they automatically are too busy to help. The morale has plummeted. It’s a shame too because I love what I do, but nosy supervisors, MIA supervisors, and morale killing directors have made this a hostile work environment. They also now audit and never have any positive feedback for you. It’s all negative and basically how much you suck. It’s all about the numbers.

Pros

Most employees are very experienced and have a lot of knowledge to give In some areas, there are a LOT of agents to learn from Farmer's writes many different lines of business Company keeps pace with the industry very well

Cons

No centralized or formal training program for independent agents or people working for them; very much an ad hoc style of "learn as you go" and make significant mistakes along the way, sometimes at the expense of the clients New employees are expected to self-train using flash slideshows called "University of Farmer's" which is just an online compilation of somewhat interactive videos Disorganized, random method of training leads to misinformation and an overall confusing experience for new employees Employees who do not keep pace with the Kafka-esque training circus are disciplined accordingly Agents who come in without prior experience often hit business pitfalls without realizing the consequences until it's too late Confusing billing system

Pros

Great people, good pay, benefits are nice.

Cons

Workload is high which makes stress high. Perfomance based on customer service survey returns which is a terrible judge and takes little else into account. Very hard to move postions in the company. Recent change from flexible schedules to rigid evening hours and some weekends has really affect moral and the work/life balance which had made many enjoy working for Farmers. The change has done nothing for customer service. Tenured adjusters are leaving due to this unnecessary change and an inability to progress in both position and pay.
