Pros

Decent salary and benefits, performance based bonuses, advancement opportunity if you are interested in moving up and are mobile, friendly employees.

Cons

The company is undergoing a major cultural shift. Performance expectations are difficult to maintain in conjunction with providing good customer service and meeting behavior expectations set forth by management. Procedures change so frequently no one knows what is going on at any level. Supervisors and managers are hired into positions they have no technical experience in and front line employees are frustrated that their leadership team doesn't understand the basics of their job. Front line employees and customers are often not taken into consideration when major decisions are made and process changes are implemented. Most supervisors and managers are afraid to speak up against anything for fear of being chastised.

Pros

When I started at Farmers it seemed like a growing company with lots of opportunity. It was a good entry level opportunity being fresh out of college. Also above-average amount of paid time off.

Cons

Opportunities to advance seem to be dried up. We were put on a raise freeze and didn't get our full annual bonus this year. No one was getting promoted from my department. They also seem to have problems managing the amount of employees, as my department was understaffed for months at the end of 2012 through beginning of 2013, so most had to work 50-60 hour weeks just to try to keep your head above water with daily assignments that were more than twice the norm. The amount of paid time off doesn't seem like much with the amount of work you have to manage. Often people would take time off just to get their workload under control.
