Stay Far Away From Farmers

Pros

Good Commercials, this is where it ends....

Cons

After many years of very hard work building a great business under horrible and constant rate increases, the company just comes in and takes the business from us and gives it to a younger, untrained agent (Seed Program). We built the agency with all our life long contacts, friends and family. The clients are only with Farmers because of us. Farmers is a big scam. They tell you if you work really hard, you can make lots of money and retire young on your renewals and focus on large cases, estate planning, commercial, investments etc. only to find out after we invested big money in our own building and agency that it's all a lie. Zurich (who owns Farmers) has used Farmers as a cash cow and raped it. American families have suffered greatly under Farmers. Founders John C. Tyler and Thomas E. Leavey would be ashamed of what their once great company has turned into! It is immoral. Run, don't walk from Farmers.

Pros

I've been at Farmers for more than a decade. The changes inside the company during that time have been astounding . I really feel our leadership understands what they need to do to attract and keep talent in this rapidly changing marketplace. They've relaxed the dress code, improved technology, reworked benefits and really focused on diversity and inclusion efforts at all levels of the company. I've never really felt the desire to leave (which I had at both previous employers). Things I like: - I'm extremely challenged in my role. - I feel my talents are being used to the fullest extent. - I feel valued. - I got a lot of time off (I actually struggle to use the 30 days I receive each year). - I get to work at home a lot. - I'm given a lot of autonomy in my role. - I'm given opportunity. - I get to support my community and my favorite charities on behalf of Farmers. - I feel fairly compensated.

Cons

- Work/life balance can be a little off. Sometimes I ask, "what balance?" - Benefits are decent. Probably could be better. My litmus test is that I perceive my husband's employer-provided benefits better than what I receive. - Offices outside of Home Office (Los Angeles) have less opportunity than Home Office, especially in my business unit.
