Pros

The job itself is really pretty awesome. It is always changing, you always are dealing with something new, and always talking to a huge variety of people. You learn a ton of great information that you will know for future jobs.

Cons

Just about everything else. The management is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. The senior manager needs to be replaced ASAP. She is running that place into the ground and has been for years. She is vindictive, manipulative, and will find a way to get rid of you if you disagree with her in any capacity. If you make her mad enough, she'll completely make something up to try and get you fired. The employees there have seen it happen multiple times. Her and the majority of management do not care about any of the employees or their well being. Favoritism is an issue as well. The pay is laughable. They try to call the job a call center, though nothing about it is like a call center. They pay low wages because they consider it one, although new hires get hired on now making more than the supervisors even do, or the employees that have worked there for 15+ years. The senior manager is trying to force all the tenured employees out the door so that she can replace them with people that don't question her and are younger and more productive. The workload is insane. They have mismanaged things so badly that employees are having to take on literally 4X the normal amount of work, and management doesn't do anything about it because they know that "it'll get done one way or another". The list goes on and on. Turnover and attrition are at an all time high. People are quitting right and left. Run so far away from this circus and go work for someone who values you. Go work for any other branch of FedEx even. You will also have absolutely no work life balance. Expect to work massive amounts of overtime because there is so much work constantly.

Pros

Excellent brand that gets you in the door with companies you call upon. Also helps to have the FedEx name at your back when you have to prospect for new business. You have the ability to plan your days the way you want around your schedule, so work life balance is great. The relationships you build are great because you're helping people with their business. Competition is usually FedEx vs UPS. Plenty of opportunities if you want to move around in the company.

Cons

Onboarding is really poor. The training you receive is good on a corporate level, but there's so much to learn that it's a 'trial by fire' mentality while learning from your other reps in the area. their plate is full, too, so if you don't have any team players, you could be screwed. It's a general consensus that you don't feel remotely comfortable until at least a year on the job. Expectations of calls per day is not set in stone, but it might come up if you're not performing and consistently closing business. If you thrive off of a team atmosphere and interaction with team members, this is not the job for you. Perform or they won't hesitate to manage you out.

Pros

Plenty of hours, decent hourly wage for labor. Many different shifts available to dovetail with your schedule.

Cons

Abusive environment. Dangerous and unhealthy working conditions. Bad tyrannical management that is constantly looking for new and exciting ways to browbeat and humiliate people into working even harder than they already are. Crappiest place on the planet. Huge gobs of moldy dust caked to the screens of the fans that blow "air" into stifling hot trucks. Ice-cold working conditions in the winter, especially when someone "forgets" to turn on the heat. Dock managers are forced by upper management to always have something to be on the workers about. If it's not "load rate", it's "scan rate". If it's not scan rate it's "cube". If your'e doing everything really well they'll send you back to "Load Academy" just to embarrass you into trying to work harder. You get out every shift and can barely walk and then stand in a long line like livestock waiting to be patted-down by Security before you're allowed to leave. I quit last night and it was better than sex.
