Pros

Gets you away from home is the only plus. I really can't think of one good reason to work for this number hungary company today. When you raise goals every year you eventually peak out. Something the company does not realize. They raise the goal numbers so high you have to speed and cheat just to do average at best on your review. FEDEX KEYWORDS THIS ROUND... VOTE UNION soon

Cons

Company is on a 10+ year vinge on taking away, jumpseat, health benefits (Pension/401K contributions) and making us pay more for health care and get less coverage, the list goes on and gets loinger by the day. Im making less now than i was when i started with them if you do FEDEX math

Pros

Co-workers were mostly awesome! If you want decent pay around the holidays this is a good place to get it. My supervisor was one of the best I'd ever worked under.

Cons

Full-time during peak season which is mid-November to New Years means 12 hours a day. There is no time to cook a meal, and doing laundry and housework is done on your one day off which means no rest. And you need rest because it is heavy lifting for the entire 12 hours. Oh and your lunch break is rushed with about 20 minutes, so you had better have packed a lunch and eat fast because that belt starts whether you are ready or not. I have no idea how the single parents managed.

Pros

Shift went quickly High starting pay initially with raises after 3, 6, and 12 months (Started at $14.95/hour) Worked with some of the best people with the best character in my life Opportunities for extra hours

Cons

Shift Hours (Started at 3:30/3:45 Tuesday-Saturday) Workload always unpredictable (load counts/packages per truck changed daily) Unpredictable employee peer attendance directly affected your job daily IMPOSSIBLE to get promoted unless you work part time as a package handler for 6-7 years. The company posts jobs on their internal career site, JUST TO POST THEM. Usually they already have been grooming a candidate for 1-2 years for that position (management, linehaul, HR, supervisor, etc.) So once the job opens, even if you apply for it, you WON'T get an interview. You won't even get a phone call. For a package handler, there is no hiring standard. They will hire anyone with a pulse. For this level of work and its intensity, there should be a standard.
