Pros

- Competitive pay - Offers both a pension and bonus structure - The company has been profitable for a long time - Office food days monthly and some small competitions as incentives

Cons

- No remote or hybrid work options available - Poor communication both upward and downward; management expects employees to follow orders without questioning - Company presentations discourage questions and feedback from frontline employees - Lacks diversity in terms of both thought and race; not an inclusive environment, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals. You will work MLK day and Juneteenth. - Manager meetings that were supposed to occur monthly often got canceled; no feedback or career development provided - Training requires travel to Minnesota - Very cliquish atmosphere, resembling a "good old boys club" - Favoritism towards white, conservative males; those who don’t fit this mold are expected to stay silent - Resistant to change despite long-term profitability; lagging behind in areas like technology

Pros

We get to help people and Federated helps us do that in a reasonable manner. We don't handle cookie cutter auto liability claims, we handle anything from hail, total losses, injuries (both 1st and 3rd party), contractor errors and omissions, construction defect, additional insured, and so many other types of claims. It sounds like a lot and our office is busy, but I am never bored here or tired of handling the same old claim. The work is challenging but the expectations is if you don't know something to go ask. In my 5 years I have never been made to feel as if the question is stupid-that I shouldn't be asking or that I am being judged for asking. Our training is very hands on with your supervisor and manager. We have people come from Home Office to provide us with training and to discuss our claims, which is a great opportunity to work with Home Office Management and get to know them. I find the work fun but as an office we also have fun together- through company sponsored events, opportunities to volunteer together, and just regular happy hours. My coworkers genuinely care about each other. It's a great place to work. Also the fact we have a pension plan, a 401K and profit sharing is also awesome!

Cons

The dress code is on the formal side Monday thru Thursday. Some people are upset that we are not a work from home company, but there is flexibility when you have a need and an alternate work schedule that can allow you to work from home 2-4 times a month.

Pros

-First couple years were great but then peoples real nature starts to show. -Competitive pay and benefits. *pension -Free coffee Mondays were nice.

Cons

-Post pandemic you could tell the company was all about controlling their employees. -Most management micromanages and sets unrealistic expectations. -There's no workplace diversity as it is a white male dominated company and though they try to be inclusive it is way too cliquey to feel part of the group. -Any advancement was purely off of favoritism. -Workplace culture is a big emphasis however they put the cult in culture as it is a small town where everyone knows everyone and you're either in or not and the gossiping is terrible. -Work/life balance is a scale tipped towards work. Some areas are mandatory overtime and others just expect you always work overtime. You will be overworked and under appreciated. -Flexibility is near nonexistent and you will be ridiculed for making the safe call to work remote if allowed or for using your time off.
