Pros

Best Internship for an Stem major! (05/2011 - 08/2011)Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory ‘FNAL’ ● Learned the functionality of a cryogenic ionization chamber beam loss monitor systems (BLMs) ● .Designed the initial schematics design extension for the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) used for the recollection of data from the BLMs. ● Analyzed data from the BLMs and simulated data from oscilloscopes to verify the functionality of the FPGA.

Cons

It's hard to receive funding, but Dianne Engram and the entire committee always manage to give us at least 3 spots.

Pros

There are a lot of knowledgeable people who are willing to share their knowledge. Great quality of life with plenty of opportunities to socialize with coworkers.

Cons

Can be boring if you are not a self starter type of person. Since Fermi falls under the Dept of Energy, their hiring/ staffing needs are very political causing them to suffer a cutback in staffing lately.
