Pros

Research at its best. You get to work with some of the most talented and learned people in the field. And on some nerdy stuff. You get to use some of the most hi-tech stuff ever! It's a huge lab, and it's gorgeous! Forests, huge lakes, deers, horses, buffalos! If you love science, you will love this place. Very relaxed, flexible work hours! You love biking? One of the best bike trails! Very friendly people! Quite a few lab parties, potlucks! And activities!

Cons

Of course if you work for a national lab, you don't make as much as in industry! But it's decent. Plus suburb is cheap.

Pros

Fermilab is a good place to work. They don't pay very well for scientists but the work environment is very good. The daycare center is excellent and reasonably affordable. You can buy a house out here for cheap if you don't mind the boring suburbs.

Cons

The burbs are boring especially for young people and ever mort especially for single people.
