Pros

I’ve been at Fidelity for a while. Just some points to be aware of. Pros: Good experience. Well supported out of the gate. Harder as you progress. Cons: Very political. Who you know environment. Compensation is marginal. Here’s the beta. Great place to start. Get your licenses and experience. At 5 years. Move on. The compensation is poor. Fidelity does not respect knowledge. The benes are good to a point. For student loans and growing families— good benes. Unfortunately most won’t be able to afford daycare. The 10% profit sharing is nice as well but again, most won’t be able to meet the IRS 401k limit so it really just fills the compensation gap. I’m just saying, choose wisely. 5 years then bounce. If I had it to do again. I would not. Don’t think you’ll get a merit increase that meets inflation or cost of living because you won’t. Christmas bonuses are only during strong economic years. You will be overworked and under appreciated. Choose wisely.

Pros

Retirement benefits, great people, opportunity for growth

Cons

Dynamic working policy has been adjusted to two weeks in-person starting in September 2024. You do not pick when you go to the office, you are told the weeks and have no ability to change that. If you live far away from the office, I’d suggest rethinking this role. Management is only concerned with getting use out of our office buildings and not actually listening to the associates. When they announced the RTO policy, they turned off all of the comments on our internal website. This is a good place to work if you don’t mind being just a number.

Pros

Work-Life Balance: The company truly respects personal time and maintains a culture that promotes a healthy work-life balance. I've consistently been able to manage my professional responsibilities without sacrificing my personal life, which is a rare and valued aspect of my job. Financial Benefits: The profit-sharing scheme and bonuses are significant perks that not only boost morale but also tangibly reward our collective successes. Campus Environment: The campus is beautiful in Westlake. It has a small lake, long-horns, and its been recently remodeled with workspaces that would make google jealous.

Cons

Diversity in Management: Advancement into management positions seems disproportionately challenging for minorities. There is a noticeable pattern where managers tend to favor individuals who share their own background, resulting in limited diversity at the higher levels of the company. Work Challenge and Engagement: The work, while stable, often lacks stimulation and challenge. For those eager to push their boundaries and seek engaging projects, this can lead to a sense of stagnation and unfulfilled potential. Professional Development: There is a concerning lack of investment in skill development for employees. In an ever-evolving job market, the absence of growth opportunities to learn new skills or enhance existing ones is a significant drawback that could hinder long-term career progression. Base Salary: While the bonuses and profit-sharing are beneficial, the base salary is low. I mean, not THAT low but low. It's essential for the base pay to also be competitive to not only attract but retain talent.
