Pros

Fidelity provide great oppertunities to those willing to put in the effort. Hard and smart work is rewarded with promotions... like most thing in life should be it is what you put in to it. Health benefit are great. The company also encourages employees to complete thier educaiton or to persue advanced educaiton. Work / Life balance is important. Managers understand this balance and work to accomodate request.

Cons

Benefits are great but the starting representative and manager pay is average. Company wide career planning is some what lacking. Many career conversations with your manager are limited to your current company.

Pros

No age discrimination at all. I was hired at age 62 as a beginning employee. The training was intense and excellent,. One of the requirements for staying is that you HAVE to pass the Series 7 licensing exam. For a person who is interested in istock and fund investing, this is a great place to learn. The company has a rigid insistence on integrity, which is a good thing. I worked with persons who had been at Merrill, and other companies; they universally said that the expectation of integrity made communications with customers much easier for all parties. Fidelity offers various Health Insurance and savings programs; insurance is very good. Also, the 401K Program, Pension, etc are excellent. Fidelity Phone Representatives are available 24/7, In an on-the-phones team. at about six monts intervals, you have the opportunity to bid to move to a different shift.

Cons

The company requires a college degree for evey employee who will have contact with the public, but the starting slalary seems low for that type of position. There are opportunities to earn bonuses, but you are competing with all other employees in your job type for the share of a fixed "pot" of money. Since I was the age of some of my supervisor's parents, and I had also been a senior military officer, two of them appeared to fell awkward about advising me about job performance, and took a harsh tone to cover up their embarassment. This was only two persons in eight years with the company; most persons in Team Leader/Management positions are excellent. The shift work requirements can become very wearing, especially late shifts.
