Poor Management and Favoritism

Pros

The work feels important and gives you a sense of satisfaction when a client takes a step forward.

Cons

The work is physically and emotionally taxing, but that is the nature of the field. The real problem lies in the management and their level of favoritism towards specific staff. This problem stems from the top.

Pros

-important mission -friendly line staff and clinicians -I don't really have anything else good to say other than that a pro is that if you haven't started working here yet, you still have time to avoid getting sucked in to the toxic "Firefly Family"

Cons

CEO more interested in personal glory/being at the center of the universe than the mission itself and very disconnected from the work of the organization -they ask staff to "volunteer" on the weekends and while it's voluntary (as in unpaid) it's not really optional if you want to keep your job

Hello, and thanks for your feedback. Please send us an email at hr@fireflyautism.org, as we would love to get to the bottom of why you felt your job was in jeopardy for not attending the volunteer events. Firefly has never forced anyone to attend volunteer events, and these are strictly optional for those who would like to participate in community involvement.

Pros

Early childhood program is exceptional. Collaborative work environment, supportive network, great learning experience, and the kiddos are so rewarding to work with. Leadership in this program consistently asks for feedback and works to create team building activities to increase morale. If you like ABA, this is the place to do it. Paid holiday breaks and PSL.

Cons

Unfortunately the pay is not enough for sustainable living in the area. Very difficult to support yourself financially. The company has certainly struggled with organization and maintaining consistency in employee evaluations (only opportunity for raises). Work is being done to improve this by a few individuals, however it needs to be a shift in overall mindset. There is also not enough time allocated for completion of administrative work which often leads to playing catch up at home. Turnover is a frequent occurrence.

Hi there, we are glad that you feel that our Early Childhood Program is exceptional and rewarding. Since writing this review, we are proud to say that we have been able to increase our starting compensation level for new staff and also hired additional staff to where our center is close to being fully staff at this time.
