Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. You pointed to one of several valuable benefits of working at First Command, the flexibility that comes with properly managing your own schedule. Many of our most successful Advisors also hold the dedicated support from our Home Office staff in high regard and often point to the Fast Start program as one of our most valuable offerings. But one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. Regarding pay, First Command Advisors are eligible to earn a strong income through competitive industry commissions on sales of financial products, plus additional annual and deferred compensation. We value all Advisors who remain committed to our mission of coaching those who serve in their pursuit of financial security. Thank you for sharing your review.

Pros

First Command has a great mission and most advisors genuinely care about their clients.

Cons

Some bad apples ruin the bunch. Leadership is slow to keep pace with industry changes. Training is limited and not very relevant for experienced advisors

Pros

- sponsored licensing period - frequent corporate trainings and support - support/training in your local office - "fast start" program for new advisors (6 months salaried @ 4k/mo while in the fast start program) - once you graduate the fast start program, you have SIGNIFICANT autonomy to build your business - capable corporate IT department - leaders of many other departments are amazing, capable and experienced - military focused organization (80% of advisors are either current or retired military, most company is very punctual, regimented & detailed or has significant leadership experience as a result of their time in the military)

Cons

- company growing pains (no one has the same answer for 1 question) - overly complicated advisor compensation (1,072 rules dictate how advisors are compensated) I heard multiple times "My paycheck is a surprise every month." - due to SIGNIFICANT autonomy getting your business rolling successfully within 1-3yrs is exceedingly difficult. - military focused organization (lots of dominant personalities, your area of specialty/how you run your book of business will change depending on what First Command location you work in.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We appreciate your comments on the benefits of working at First Command, including training and dedicated support from our Home Office. At First Command, one of our most valuable offerings is the Fast Start program, which provides intense professional development to prepare new people to serve our clients as independent Advisors. As you've mentioned, some of the benefits of that program include paying new Advisors during the training period and offering a full array of employee benefits. Through the program, our Advisors learn how to build and grow their own business, serve new clients and provide face-to-face financial coaching. Our Advisors are eligible to earn a strong income through competitive industry commissions on sales of financial products, plus additional annual and deferred compensation. Our Advisors often tell us that one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. We appreciate your feedback on including more training on financial planning and will be sharing your thoughts with leadership.
