Pros

First Command is a company deeply committed to its values and mission, which unites everyone across the enterprise and serves as the foundation for decisions and progress. It genuinely values its employees, fostering an environment where people can bring their authentic selves to work each day. It’s a place where individuals can establish and grow a long-term career.

Cons

Like many organizations, First Command faces challenges with change management. Too often, decisions are influenced by the loudest voices, which may not always represent the best perspectives. As a company in transition, there is tremendous potential to emerge stronger and more effective, but this depends on executing well on good intentions. Poor execution could have significant negative impacts, undermining the very progress and values the company strives to uphold.

Pros

First Command is an employee-centric organization. From day one, the leadership and other colleagues have welcomed, encouraged, and supported me. I love that we have themed days, refreshments, and friendly competitions. Also, as a mother of 2 little boys, the hybrid schedule is PERFECT for my family. I am finally being compensated accurately for my knowledge and skills, and I am excited to grow within the company.

Cons

The only downside is the absence of established processes, but we are collaborating as a team, encouraged by leadership, to implement those processes.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re excited to hear that you’ve found a work environment that encourages you to be yourself and is supportive of you as you aim to accomplish your best work. The flexibility of our hybrid schedule is a benefit we hear many of our Home Office employees point to when discussing the benefits of a career at First Command. Our company culture, mission, vision, and workplace culture are reasons so many First Command employees stay for decades. We’re happy you’re here. Thanks for taking the time to review us.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. First Command is owned by employees through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and we encourage our people to exercise their ownership by providing feedback that will help us create a positive environment for all. A key part of that positive environment is our focus on serving those who serve. Our employees and Advisors tell us that one of the most compelling elements of this career is the opportunity to serve military personnel and their families in a meaningful way. Nine out of ten First Command Financial Advisors come from the ranks of veterans and military spouses. For these Advisors, the career is about serving those who serve through face-to-face financial coaching. Our Advisors and employees always put our clients first and offer products and services in the context of a comprehensive financial plan. The result is a culture that reflects the high ethical standards and best practices of the financial services industry. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences.
