Pros

The compensation package is very good. There is plentiful overtime pay and there is also an annual bonus. Made several good friends over the years. There is also opportunity for individual growth.

Cons

Odd work hours and abundance of overtime makes it very challenging to have any sort of work-life balance. The nuclear industry is very meticulous in regards to procedures and standards. People from other, less detail oriented backgrounds may have a difficult time adjusting. New employees need to understand that they are nuclear professionals and be able to accept the additional time it takes to "do the job" because of the use of human performance tools.

Pros

First Energy has a pension for it's employees that meet the criteria and also a fairly good medical policy

Cons

Good buddy club. They promote those who don't always fit the job the best but rather who they can lean on to do what their management says.
