Pros

It's a very friendly work environment. Everyone works together to achieve common goals. Safety is taken VERY seriously. A high level of trust and responsibility is given to all employees when it comes to decision making. I truly enjoy my job and look forward to beginning each day.

Cons

Being an electric utility, storms will hit and when they do, the entire company pulls together to get customers beck in service. All employees are given certain roles during storm restoration and most employees work 16-hour days until restoration of service to customers is complete. Depending upon the severity and location of the storm, employees may be required to travel away from home with no notice. Length of out-of-town stay may range from a few days to a few weeks. Once again, this is just the nature of working for an electric utility. But, some people may see this as a con.

Pros

The company has a nice pension plan, which they are replacing with a 401K style approach for new hires. The company has many experienced leaders who will help if asked.

Cons

The company is constantly announcing layoffs. Upward mobility is limited for the unconnected. Easy to get lost in the shuffle with so many employees. Training documentation is limited.

Pros

Management realizes what a difficult job customer service reps have. There is an excellent management team at the customer service center.

Cons

The biggest complaint would be having to be available for up to 16 hours at a stretch during storms and outages. The reps can't tell the customers anything more than what's available online or on automated voice messaging when outages occur during the night and off hours.
