Pros

Good job security, peers in local offices are largely good people to work with. You only work 40 hours a week in my job title (unless bad storms come through), but this increases stress because more than 40 hours are needed to keep up with workload put upon us. Annual bonuses are nice, but are used in lieu of good raises to keep salaries down over time.

Cons

Salary is at the low end of competitive, especially if you live in an expensive area. Benefits deteriorate a little more each year. Your career will move forward very slowly unless you leapfrog and apply for jobs outside your group. There is little incentive to over perform, as nearly everyone is rated "average" on the bell curve review process (by definition). Customer service is steady deteriorating because of staffing levels, placing great stress on front line employees who work with the public regularly. Technology is antiquated, or on a shoestring budget if newer tech, both hampering production. Too many levels of management leads to chronic micro-management.

Pros

Pay, pension, benefits, people you work with

Cons

Constant ambiguity with strategy, never finish anything (initiatives are pitched, started, and get about 3/4 of the way done before something new comes along from a new executive that was hired), all of executive council are new to either the company and or the industry. As such, they do not know the people or the work that is being done by those people.

CEO is ruining the company

Pros

The pay is acceptable, but engineers make the same amount as designers.

Cons

There is very little accountability for teams that do not want to do their work. There are also a lot of contractors. There seems to be little job security with tons of layoffs and benefits being cut.
