Pros

20% employee discount is good, casual dress, generally a laid-back environment

Cons

Minimum wage, not much opportunity for growth, unless you're a manager you won't get any more than 20 hours per week, return policy is ridiculous and irritates both customers and employees, always seemed short-staffed during working hours despite having more than enough employees on schedule who want to work more

Pros

promotions if you work hard and prove yourself. Fun environment, good benefits for full time and runs well when fully staffed.

Cons

Never fully staffed. GMs are not listen to. I worked for the company for over 5 yrs, worked for several DMs and never had issues, until a GM that was with the company less then 2 yrs was promoted, told me to do things I knew was not company policy. When I questioned it I was told to get on board or find another job. Expressed my concerns to the DM that was training him and because that DM did not think that GM was ready they chose to let them handle things they way they wanted and fail and did not help. There were 3 other GMs in our district that quit due to this DMIT yet nothing was done. So I for the sake of my sanity and health had to quit a job that I worked hard to get and loved. Let the GMs run their stores and staff and you will have a happier more productive workforce.

Pros

A 20% discount is definitely a pro. The store itself is a good idea. The hours are flexible. Good for high school and college students.

Cons

Where do I begin? I am a part time manager and have worked at several stores. Every single one seems to have problems with training and authority. Many managers act as dictators but do not lead by example. Hiring isn't the greatest. I've yet to find a store that puts the schedule out in a timely manner. The hours are very low unless you have a full time position (4-15 hours for associates and 12-24 for part time managers). The hiring signs say we offer competitive salaries but almost all associates are started at minimum wage. Most days I work with just a single associate in what is considered a "large" store. The integrity of this company is almost nonexistent. I have been told several times by GMs, DMs and Regional managers that I will be promoted and I have seen several people who are less qualified go before me. I have worked hard for this company for nearly three years. I was promoted from sales associate to PTM in less than a year but as soon as I reached management everything went downhill. PTMs are overworked and under-payed. I have been doing tasks that AMs and GMs should be doing even before I was in management. Also, them biggest reason I dislike this company so much now is because when issues were brought up to my DM about LP and harassment issues concerning a GM no one did anything. The regional manager was called, Meetings were held and people were questioned and that manager was said to have at least 3 fireable offenses and is still working for the company today. It is ridiculous that Five Below will not do anything simply because they don't want to get their hands dirty.
