Pros

I'm in my third month and my immediate observations are that the colleagues are highly collaborative, the learning curve is realistic, impact on the business can be swift and proximity to a wide variety of practices keeps one continuously intellectually stimulated. I sincerely enjoy the work itself, and look forward to the many opportunities that lead to working alongside new teams in new and creative ways.

Cons

The rate of growth will inevitably mean that maintaining the collaborative and close vibe amongst colleagues will be difficult. As Flatiron approaches the 300 employee mark, this will be a pro that may not be around for long.

Pros

Very transparent company culture with a big emphasis on cross disciplinary collaboration, which in practice means I always have a lot of context, know what's going on the company, and have more ability to grow my career/skill set by figuring out what types of problems we will need to solve in the future and taking initiative to move in that direction early. Surprisingly good work-life balance for a startup. Plus, of course it's exciting that I have stock options in a company that is clearly going places!

Cons

Really tough to think of cons, but I would say that if my biggest motivation were pure cash compensation, I could probably get a little more elsewhere. High volume of hiring has made it a little bit tough to book conference rooms at the moment (although we are looking to move to a larger office soon).

Pros

Flatiron has quickly built an Incredible team, while staying aligned with it's original mission-driven business goals, and is a remarkably transparent company to work for.

Cons

There are not many. Because Flatiron still operates like a start-up, the team is extremely dedicated and that's reflected in how hard people work. Folks here care about the work and for some it can mean long hours. That said, there is a ton of flexibility in terms of schedule and daily hours.
