Pros

-Great compensation and benefits -Lots of amazing coworkers -Remote work is very flexible

Cons

-Very unclear where the business is going. Multiple rounds of layoffs have happened, including letting go of employees that had been there for 5+ years and who were incredibly talented. Company would rather lay off employees than scale back on the lavish parties they hold -Very few opportunities to grow or move up within the company -Re-organizations seem to happen every other week

Pros

* Transparency of information is consistent throughout the company. Reasons behind decisions are freely disclosed, and there is no shroud of secrecy anywhere. * Everyone is talented and willing to teach you something new. They're also very passionate about the mission. * Achievements are celebrated as a company and you feel supported by your peers, regardless of what team they're on.

Cons

* The amount of transparency is a double-edged sword. There is a huge amount of information and you need to maintain a tremendous amount of focus to be effective. * A few managers are ambitious but inexperienced. Many know the basics of how to handle various scenarios, but aren't adept at building and maintaining healthy team dynamics. * The days are very interrupt-driven. It's hard to keep solid blocks of time on your calendar to concentrate on tasks.

Pros

Working at Flatiron has exposed me to some of the greatest people. It's an extremely mission driven company, which means everyone is dedicated and invested in watching Flatiron succeed.

Cons

Flatiron can be very transparent, but then other matters can be shrouded in secrecy. I'd also love to see more investment in career growth for more junior employees other than management roles. The Engineering organization has figured this out and the rest of the org should piggy back on their success.
