Pros

Flextronics is a well established company that has been in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for quite a long time. They are currently doing reasonably well in the market too. It is also a well organized company, providing very good employee health benefits and has helpful human resources personnel. They used to have an indoor basketball gym, not sure if they still have it :-)

Cons

I think compared to the market they do not pay that well, but they used to pay decent bonuses. Again, this is just my opinion and the general impression I had from people that I know of.

Pros

There are so many things needing improvement that there are enormous opportunities for those with the desire to fix things. The segmented structure allows people with specialized backgrounds and skills to optimize their position. Flextronics has lots of skill and personel diversity and could succeed greatly, if management could resolve their vision problems. Focus on training next generation leader using the Emerging Leaders program will have a long term benefit for employees and the company. Company is finally starting to recognize employees as an asset but this is still in the early stages. Flextronics is a large distributed company so there are opportunities all over the globe, depending on a person's interest and background.

Cons

Management is not supportive of change they don't initiate so a lot of political negotiating can be required to complete even simple changes to policy or procedure. The pay structures are not as competetive as other companies. Some groups run very lean so work requirements in those groups can be difficult. There is lots of politics between different management levels and different regions. Senior management often puts their own personal interests above those of the company. Company vision and goals are financially focused without fully understanding the mechanics required to achieve the goal in a sustainable fashion. Limited focus on quality affects perceptions of the company.

Pros

The opportunities to work on cutting edge products is everywhere. If you show the skills and desire to take on responsibilities, they will be given to you (carefully what you ask for).

Cons

you must be willing to accept the constant shifting of products and projects off shore (or out of the US at least). It's a cut dog eat dog business and the financial constraints can be brutal. The pace is absolutely frantic so you have to know when to take a break. Most of direction you receive comes in the form of "just get the job done so we can ship the goods"
