Some of the managers have very toxic attitudes towards work. They expect you to normalize working 10+ hours a day in the name of productivity, just because they do. This isn’t healthy and will lead to burnout. Definitely some egomaniac managers there with absolutely no life outside of Flexport, and it shows. They’re so obsessed with working for Flexport that they don’t even realize how ridiculous and sad they look. They don’t take time off because they have so much backed up work. They have so much backed up work because they are understaffed. They are understaffed because they under-hire and claim “it’s not in the budget” but then they’ll stretch the staff they already have thin. Work hard enough and you’ll get promoted quickly to another role with a below average salary. Eventually there won’t be any room for growth, so you’ll be forced to either be content with substandard annual raises or go somewhere else. Culture emphasizes spending all your time with your coworkers, at work and outside of work. They just want everyone’s lives enmeshed so that it’s harder to leave. C-Suite is out of touch. Too much constant change and confusion. People’s roles constantly change. Every role is 90% mindless tasks that are less than school ability. Sudden layoffs, fake D&I initiatives, lots of useless meetings. Hiring entry level people and offer “cool” perks so they can pay them less. No 401k match. They position their offices in prime locations (places where many of their employees cannot afford to live) and they have to pay for parking or transit. Hit $1B and have employees $250-1k.
