Pros

Beer on tap and Coworkers

Cons

If you're looking for basic experience and don't mind being taken advantage of and underpaid, this could be a good option for you. Otherwise, BE VERY CAREFUL. Their pay is significantly lower than the market because they 'Take a chance' on new developers. They are trying to grow as a company and will do anything to save a dollar. You will be expected to work more than 40 hours a week to accomplish the given tasks. You will not be compensated for working over time or your on-call shift (which is just customer service, nothing to do with development). They will continuously add more responsibility to your plate without providing a clear direction. Management is a joke and do not seem to care what employees are concerned about. They are a startup, be prepared to go through their growing pains at your expense.

We try very hard to make all of our Streamers happy and to treat them fairly! Our approach is to deliver early, consistent performance feedback & coaching. We do hire people that are new to software and coding, and offer many opportunities for advancement in skills and earnings. We also offered this individual the opportunity to switch roles in the company to find a better fit for their skills and abilities. This was a rare instance in which an employee was not interested in a new role and could not perform the existing role.

Pros

The people are amazing. The family is extremely tight. The extracurricular activities are rock solid and they truly care about their own

Cons

Super low pay, even for the junior level web developers. The code base is a massive pile of crap, that has been added to over the last decade, so it makes it nearly impossible to want to stick around.

Thank you for your post and feedback. We appreciate both your positive comments and areas of improvement. During the 4 years since you left, FluentStream has completely transformed from a bootstrapped start-up to a professional, high-growth company with a reputation for taking care of its employees and customers. We have worked hard to establish a sustainable company & culture that our Streamers (employees) are proud of. Here are some specific ways we have evolved since your time with us: - New company ownership, and every current employee receives equity. - New leadership across all departments of the company, including technology and human resources. - New technology, culture and process including standards for code reviews, completion, documentation, maintenance and security. - New compensation and benefits packages that are nationally-competitive. - Increased focus on diversity and inclusion. Today nearly half our workforce and senior leadership are women. - Fully-remote workforce, with employees all over the U.S. In no way does our evolution excuse any negative experiences you had during your time with FluentStream 4 years ago, but we hope our response helps current and prospective Streamers understand what FluentStream is like today. Thank you again for your feedback.
