Admin Team Is Viewed as Rocks In a Backpack That Sales Team Carries
Pros
Fun Co-Workers Cool Vibe of Workplace Taught me how to appreciate the new job I took after working here because this place was so miserable
Cons
Your Worth What the Sales Team Is Before They Even Make a Sale -- their sales base is your highest pay. They hired me as a "Payroll Assistant," but then I was the only person doing payroll once hired. I actually cried and almost quit my first month there. No Opportunity for Growth in Admin Positions. I worked here over 5 years ago and it was the most toxic place I've ever worked -- micromanagement from managers, tons of gossip between workers, the boss's wife called other girls working with me b*****s in the workplace, CEO talked to me maybe a grand total of 3-5 times in the 8 months I worked there, which just goes to show how much he values and cares about his admin employees. One of the times we spoke, it was for him to argue with me that they hired me as a payroll coordinator when the job position from HR and their website was as an assistant (assistant means more than one person is doing the job). Payroll is processed manually (you hand type everything twice) and it was the most ridiculous process prone to errors. And you have to do this every week. It was the most stressful situation and there had to be better software and systems in place that was not so error prone. I think because the boss didn't care for his admin team, he didn't try to find software to make the payroll process easier. This place was hell on earth and I am so glad to be free. I was not informed that I would get 3 days of bereavement pay when my husband's grandmother died and we had to fly home for the funeral. There was a snowstorm and I couldn't make it back to Dallas for 3 days and was freaking out and my manager was texting me multiple times a day asking why I wasn't back yet and taking away from me supporting my husband and his family during that time. They didn't inform me of the bereavement pay until I returned to the office. Because I was the only Payroll Coordinator, it was big issues if I missed any work. I felt pressured to not use my vacation/sick days because of this. I had to train my replacement for no additional pay. And then the person they hired to replace me was texting me ON MY HONEYMOON questions about a job that I no longer worked at. Hopefully Management has changed how they treat their admin team and the culture at this place has changed.
