Pros

Food 4 Less has a lot of room for advancement if you so desire, and the pay gets great at the top. There are annual bonuses for salaried employees, and because the company is doing well we usually made a nice bonus.

Cons

Long hours, as a salaried manager the shift was mandatory 10 hours a day. 5 or 6 days a week. You can be transferred around to different stores, at one time I was driving 50 miles each way to my store.

Taking advantage of their employees means a larger bonus for DM's

Pros

it is a small paycheck with part-time hours at the convenience of their scheduling needs with mandatory hours if they need you to stay longer

Cons

There are so many cons to working here. They start you out at minimum wage with the caveat that they cannot pay anyone any higher wage because it is a union job. But the union says otherwise. Even if you do a good job and show up for any additional work they need you for, you won't get a raise in pay unless you know someone in corporate or are "close" friends with management. Working hard and being honest used to mean something, but at Food 4 Less the DM's only promote if your promotion benefits their demographics.
