Pros

What we're trying to build is ambitious. Brilliant vision and strategy with potential to change how healthcare is delivered. It's difficult to find other companies with goals and a mission that are so large. The people here are incredibly kind and sharp - they genuinely care about getting healthcare to the masses. Working with people who care about and are motivated by the same things as you makes a world of difference. There are endless ways to challenge yourself and contribute to meaningful problems. It would take years to do at other companies what I've had the opportunities to do here. We go into the office every day, and for the most part, I think this is a pro. It helps me create boundaries between work and home. It makes it easier to build relationships with the people around me, which makes my day to day much more fun and fulfilling.

Cons

You need to be able to set your own boundaries, otherwise the work can feel all consuming. The environment won't stop you from doing this, but it won't necessarily help you do this either. This is something that can be particularly challenging for junior folks. Pay is not great. Every company has its tradeoffs. This is one I'm willing to take right now given the people and learning opportunities. There are definitely times where I wish I could just go work remotely out in the mountains or in another city for a week. But alas, another tradeoff I am ok with for now. P.S.
